Mr. Peyton graduated cum laude from St.
Thomas University School of Law, which he attended on a full tuition
scholarship. Along with finishing in the top ten
percent
of his class, Mauri earned a position as an articles editor for the St.
Thomas Law Review. Additionally,
Dean Bob Butterworth
selected
Mauri as a Dean’s teaching assistant where he helped students refine
their legal research and writing skills.
Mauri also attended Washington and Jefferson College, where he attained
a Bachelor of the Arts in Business Management. Aside from
playing
football for W&J, Mauri took a very active role in student
government and Phi Delta Theta.
Mauri worked for the State Attorney in Broward County as
a Certified Legal Intern. During his time with the State
Attorney’s office, he tried misdemeanor jury trials and
juvenile felony cases as a prosecutor. Additionally, Mr.
Peyton
argued numerous motions and
hearings.
Prior
to
his time at the state attorney’s office, Mauri worked for Hernandez and
Hicks, P.A., and Michael P. Rudd and Associates, P.A. which both focus
in insurance defense.
Mauri also had the unique opportunity to work with The Honorable
Stephen T. Brown, a Federal Magistrate for the Southern District of
Florida. Mauri worked closely with the Judge and his staff to
analyze and prepare Reports and Recommendations.
